Why

Research showed most Wise Business customers rely on manual invoicing tools, leading to extra fees and fragmented workflows — an opportunity to bring invoicing natively into Wise so businesses get paid in one place and keep more of their revenue.

How

  • Explored, evaluated, and tested multiple solution approaches (e.g. invoice preview vs. summary).

  • Reused and adapted Payment Request UI patterns to move fast.

  • Collaborated with Design Systems to introduce missing components.

  • Worked closely with Content Design and User Research to validate key flows.

Product challenge

Invoicing was built on top of the existing Payment Request flow to move fast, raising the question of whether it should evolve from that feature or exist separately. Research showed customer use cases did not overlap, leading us to design invoicing as a distinct experience while reusing shared UI patterns where it made sense.

What

We rolled out Wise Invoicing gradually to 100% of eligible Wise Business accounts with GBP, EUR, AUD, NZD, SGD, and USD account details between February and March 2024.

Early results were strong, with a product feedback score of 7.4/9 and 57% adoption within our target audience, validating both the customer need and the product direction.
